What's New In The 2020 EcoSport

The 2020 Ford EcoSport was only introduced to the American market in 2018, so this vehicle is still in its first American generation. That being said, Ford rolled out a few exciting updates and refreshes on the EcoSport for the 2020 model year, upgrading the infotainment system in most models. For the 2020 model year, you'll be able to choose among four trim levels:

  • S
  • SE
  • Titanium
  • SES

The S trim kicks off the list with a strong start, offering a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth®* connectivity, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, hill start assist, a rearview camera, and two USB ports. Next, the SE trim adds an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM® radio, automatic climate control, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a reverse sensing system. The more premium Titanium trim offers amenities such as a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, leather trim, voice-activated navigation, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing wipers. The top SES trim offers many of the amenities of the Titanium trim, with the addition of stylized instrument panel accents, Ford's ActiveX leatherette upholstery, standard four-wheel drive, and a larger, more powerful engine with auto start/stop technology.

The EcoSport offers a comfortable cabin that has a competitive amount of space for its class. You'll find that the 20.9 cubic feet of space behind the second row offers plenty of room to store everyday essentials, grocery bags, or suitcases. When the second row is folded flat, 50 cubic feet of space is available to hold adventure and travel gear or even small furniture.

With Bluetooth* technology standard on every EcoSport, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto available in the second trim and up, you'll be able to stay connected on every drive. Whether you like to fill your time on the road with a killer playlist, an engaging audiobook, or your favorite podcast, you can stream your content with ease in the 2020 Ford EcoSport.

The driving dynamics and power of the EcoSport are easy and even fun, with a 1.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost® engine and a six-speed automatic transmission coming standard in the SUV. With 123 horsepower, you'll be able to accelerate on the highway with ease. If you're looking for even more muscle, a 2.0-liter, 166 horsepower engine is available as well. Front wheel drive is standard on the EcoSport, though you can upgrade to all-wheel drive for even greater control on the roads.

A Brief History of the EcoSport

The EcoSport was first available in the American market in 2018, though it has been available in other markets around the world for over a decade. The SUV was originally built in Brazil beginning in 2003, and was based on the European Fiesta and the European Fusion. The first-generation EcoSport instantly became a best-seller in Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico.

The 2007 model year brought a welcome mid-generation refresh to the EcoSport, which renewed the exterior styling, interior styling, and the materials used inside. A total redesign and the start of the SUV's second generation came in 2012, with mid-generation updating coming again in 2017. This refreshed model debuted at the 2016 LA Auto Show in the United States, and began sales for the 2018 model year. The EcoSport continues to be a popular compact SUV in the American market, impressing drivers with its practicality, features, and affordability year after year.
